Where Pittsburgh Youth Bring Big Ideas to Life with STEAM
At the Y Creator Space, imagination meets innovation. This free after-school STEAM program empowers Pittsburgh-area youth ages 9–12 to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in hands-on, exciting ways. From 3D printing and robotics to graphic design, circuitry, and engineering projects, kids gain real-world skills while building grit, creativity, and confidence.
Our state-of-the-art makerspace at the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is more than just a classroom—it’s a collaborative community where young creators work together, solve problems, and turn ideas into reality. With mentorship, cutting-edge tools, and plenty of room for curiosity, Y Creator Space is the ultimate launchpad for innovation.

School Year Hours: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:30 PM
Cost: Free (snack & dinner included)

PROGRAMS FOR REGISTRATION
Creating Peace (Ages 13–19) September 30, 2025 – November 20, 2025
Creating Peace is an innovative curriculum for teens that helps restore social connections, strengthen positive coping strategies, and build a culture of nonviolence. Designed for youth ages 13–19, this program supports teens in healing from trauma while also challenging harmful gender norms, fostering social justice, and teaching safe bystander intervention skills.
Senior Open Studio (Ages 55+) July 24, 2025 – December 19, 2025
Senior Open Studio is the perfect space for older adults to explore creativity while connecting with others. Whether you’re an experienced crafter or a total beginner, join us weekly to share your skills or try something new! Projects may include: Resin Jewelry, Iron-On Designs & Stencil Making, Digital Art & Photo Editing, And so much more!

Y CREATOR CLUB - September 22nd - December 12th
This fall, Y Creator Club is all about turning imagination and creativity into works of art that capture student’s creative expression. Youth will explore our makerspace, learning various technologies, tools and processes to bring their ideas to life while building new friendships. Through hands-on making, creative problem-solving, and mentorship, youth will create interdisciplinary works of art that are capture their creative spirit.
Youth Open Studio - September 5th - December 19th
Looking for a place to dive into your creative projects? Open Studio is a flexible, self-guided space where you can experiment with different materials, work on personal projects, or finish something you started in another club. Whether you’re painting, crafting, or building, Open Studio is here for you—just bring your ideas and get making!
